COVID-19 wedding options

the last few months have been extremely wild. who would have thought the world would be in the state it currently is? certainly not me, and certainly not each and every one of my 2020 brides and grooms. there is no normal anymore, but we will make it as normal as we can.

large weddings may be put on hold for the time being due to the safety and health concerns, but i am still happily your photographer. if you’ve decided to make your large wedding into a small wedding, i’ll be there. if you want to elope in the woods, i’ll be there. if you want to get married now and push back your large reception, i’ll be there.

emotions are high and those feelings are valid. i cannot even imagine the stress you are all under with planning, unplanning, and replanning. as a 2021 bride myself, i am still planning aspects of my big day through all of this so i know how stressful it is under “normal” conditions, let alone during a global pandemic. i sympathize with you all so deeply and i commend how you are all dealing so gracefully with rescheduling and downsizing your dream day.

if you’re in the situation of having to change your wedding plans, you still have options!

  • reschedule your big day: you can have your cake and eat it too - just a little later than you anticipated. you’ve already put down deposits that cannot be refunded if you cancel. with that said, reach out to your vendors. having a handful of dates handy will help as wedding vendors book other weddings and may be booked a few that you have in mind. be prepared to be flexible and keep in mind some vendors have rescheduling fees (personally i have waived them for all bookings effected by COVID-19!) although it might seem difficult to line up all the vendors’ schedules, i promise that if you start exploring weekends (or weekdays!!), off-season, or the next calendar year, there is a date that will work for everyone you hired.

  • elope instead: at the end of the day all that matters is that you get to marry the love of your life. whether that happens surrounded by your family and/or friends, or that happens on top of a mountain or in a forrest while social distancing, you'll have one another. if it’s just the two of you and an officiant standing six feet apart, the chance of infection is minimal.  if you’re in the process of planning a big wedding, you might want to consider having an elopement soon and a reception later, when things settle down. with elopements you can still have your flowers, you can still have a dinner/cake, and you still get to marry your person, no more waiting!

  • livestream it: even once these restrictions are lifted, it may still not be totally safe to have bigger groups gathering. some of your guests may simply not feel comfortable attending your big day and that’s okay. just as we have relied on things like facetime and other video chat services to keep in touch with loved ones, extend that to your wedding day by streaming it live in real time. or maybe you’re already planning an elopement like i mentioned before and you’re now feeling some remorse for not including your friends and family, streaming your wedding live is an easy way to include them in your celebration of love, just safely.

whatever you choose to do, i am here for you. i will be as flexible as possible to accommodate your needs. i am your photographer and i’m super proud to be! you’re going to have an amazing wedding day regardless of what you do because you get to marry the love of your life!
